Hedgehog is a hedgehog who appears in the books and the TV series. He is the elected leader of the group of hedgehogs that travel from Farthing Wood to White Deer Park. Hedgehog travels with Mrs Hedgehog in the TV series, but no mate is ever specifically mentioned during any of the books. Although Hedgehog arrives safely at the park in the books, he is killed on the motorway in the TV series.

The Animals of Farthing WoodEdit

After the animals agree to travel to White Deer Park, Hedgehog is elected by the other hedgehogs to be their representative in discussions along the way. Hedgehog is one of the animals that helps to rescue Badger from the river after he is swept away, having earlier gone back with the other hedgehogs to help the rabbits across the river. Hedgehog was breifly put in charge of the group by Badger when Fox was missing and the other large animals went off to investigate the shrike. Hedgehog was very pessimistic about the slower animals' chances of crossing the motorway, but he and most of the other hedgehogs were able to get across safely and eventually reach White Deer Park with the majority of the other animals.

In the Grip of WinterEdit

Along with the other hedgehogs, Hedgehog goes into hibernation as winter approaches and sleeps until the arrival of spring. Upon resurfacing Hedgehog meets up with the other animals and is shocked and concerned to hear of the many losses suffered by his friends during the winter, but he is nevertheless relieved that some of his friends survived to greet him.

Fox's FeudEdit

Hedgehog attends the meeting to discuss the problems the animals are having with some of the park's inhabitants, and later joins the group that follows Fox and his family into Scarface's territory to look for Bold. He takes part in a few of the discussions later in the book, but his role is relatively minor.

This is Hedgehog's final appearance in the book series as he has passed away by the start of The Siege of White Deer Park, which is set nearly two years later.
