The Horse is an old fox hunting horse who appears in the first book and the TV series. He is encountered by Fox in a field while Fox is looking for the other Farthing Wood animals. The horse offers Fox some hay which he declines, but he does take a rest in the shade. While he is there Fox tells the horse about the animals' journey to White Deer Park. The horse informs Fox that he is in fox hunting country for miles around and warns him not to stick around for too long. Fox takes this advice and quickly heads off to look for the other animals.
