Pheasant is a pheasant who appears in the books and the TV series. He begins the journey from Farthing Wood to White Deer Park with Mrs Pheasant, but both are killed by Tom Griggs as the animals travel through some farmland.
Pheasant is a very proud character, always concerned about his appearance. When he arrives at the assembly he is reluctant to enter Badger's set because it might be dirty underground. He seldom shows any desire to help the other animals and complains constantly while on the journey. However he does help to gather grubs for the other animals when they are resting on the army land.
While the other animals rest in the storeroom on the farm, Pheasant is responsible for keeping watch. However, he and his wife are both shot dead by the farmer after he startles them and they try to fly away.
Pheasant is also very proud in the TV series, but is also very spoilt and relies on his wife to look after him. While on the army land he has his plumage blown off by a stray bullet and complains endlessly about it. He later scolds his wife when she replaces it with one of Owl's stray tail feathers.
In the TV series Pheasant is supposed to keep watch after Kestrel like in the book, but he is too busy trying to sleep so his wife keeps watch instead. He is distraught when she is shot by the farmer, but seems more concerned about who will look after him than the fact that she is dead. When Adder is left behind, Pheasant volunteers to go back to the farm to look for her. While there he sees his dead wife in the window of the farmer's house. He is so upset that he does not see the farmer, who shoots him dead as well.
